Marc Shaw Has Music in His Blood!
Marc's late father, Eddie Shaw, was a popular bandleader in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas from the 1950s through the 1970s. Marc's late brother, Eric, was a talented and lauded jazz pianist and singer. And Marc's sister, Freyda Thomas, is a singer and entertainer who has appeared on Broadway.
Marc started working in his dad's band at the age of 13, first as a "roadie," and then later, playing the trumpet, and still later, playing the drums. In this photo, Marc is far right, playing the conga; his dad, Eddie Shaw, is all the way on the left; and his sister, Freyda, is seated.
In his 20s, Marc began his own party band, serving not only as leader, but also as drummer and lead vocalist. For the next 25 years he honed the skills he'd learned at his father's knee, ensuring that all guests at his parties had the best time ever. Here are Marc, in his 20s, and his dad.
